Statement artwork in your home. Going Big and Bold
Looking to perfect your minimalist home design? Consider incorporating large statement artwork. Big, bold images are making a comeback and can serve as a striking focal point to anchor your room. Large artwork isn’t just for collectors anymore—it’s accessible to everyone and can easily transform your space. Bring texture, color, and movement into your living area with one impactful piece. We understand that selecting a single large artwork can be daunting, so here are some tips to help you make the right choice!
Tip #1
Measure your wall to determine the best orientation for your artwork. For tall, narrow walls, a vertical piece works best, while a landscape orientation suits wider, horizontal walls (such as those above sofas or bed frames). After assessing your wall, decide if you want a vertical or horizontal artwork. Keep your tape measure handy and jot down the measurements. If you're placing artwork above furniture, aim for the piece to be about three-fourths the width of the furniture below it.
Tip #2
Once you’ve considered size and orientation, it’s time to think about color. While matching your artwork to your wall color or throw pillows isn’t a mistake, don’t let it limit your choices. Instead, aim for artwork that complements your room. Use a color wheel to explore complementary colors or shades within the same color family, such as primary, secondary, tertiary, analogous, monochromatic, or triadic schemes. Remember, once your artwork is hung, you can introduce additional accent decor to harmonize the space and tie everything together.
Tip #3
Buy what you love! The key to choosing a statement piece is to select something that truly resonates with you. When you collect artwork that you’re passionate about, your home becomes a reflection of your personal story. Keep it meaningful, memorable, and personal. Many artists, including myself, offer commission work, so if you find something you like but want a unique touch, don’t hesitate to reach out. Remember, artwork is meant to infuse your space with story, joy, and confidence. Choose pieces that you’ll cherish for a lifetime.
